GRACIE BARRA BLUE MOUNTAINS.
CLASS’S:
All classes operate in accordance to the MARTIAL ARTS INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION ‘S
CODE OF PRACTICE , A
copy of which is always available at our training centre on request .The
senior classes run 52 weeks of the year unless you are advised otherwise
Junior classes and Springwood classes will break for all school
holiday’s.
GRADINGS:
Gradings are
held at the end of each school term but there are eligibility requirements as
regards number of training sessions and time since the last grading (these are
detailed in the instruction book) so you will not be able to grade at each
grading. The cost of each grading is included in your monthly fees and this
includes a belt and certificate. If you train regularly and diligently it takes
a minimum of 3 years and up to 5-7 years to achieve a Black Belt.
CLASS RULES:
After you
have signed your name on the class sheet each class will begin with a 20 min.
warm-up game. After the game the formal class begins as follows:
1) As the
drum sounds everyone should line up (4 per row seniors 5 per row juniors
) with the senior grades to the front and to the right.
2) When the
lines are formed everyone sits on their heels with the right big toe over the
left big toe, the back straight, the head erect and the hands flat on the
thighs.
3) The senior
student then calls out "MOKUSO" (
this means begin to meditate). The students then place their hands in front of
their navel (belly button) with the four fingers of the left hand overlapping
the four fingers of the right with the thumbs touching. The students then 3/4
close their eyes and stare at a point on the floor 1 metre to the front.
4) The senior student then calls "MOKUSO YAME" (cease meditating). The
students return their
hands to their thighs and open their eyes.
5) The senior
student calls "KAMIZA NI REI" which means bow to the high point of the dojo
(training hall) where the Australian flag and the photograph of the
Grandmaster’s are hung. The students then place the
left hand and then the right hand finger tip to finger tip and lower the head to
the floor while still looking foreward.
6) The senior student calls " SENSEI NI REI" (bow to the teacher) and the
students bow.
7) The senior student calls " OTAGAI NI REI" (bow to each other) and the
students bow.
8) The teacher then calls "SALUTATION - BEGIN" and everybody repeats :
I WILL TRAIN TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY
I WILL CARE FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FELLOW STUDENTS
I WILL STRIVE TO IMPROVE BOTH MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY
9) The teacher then makes any announcements .
10) The class then starts loosening up exercises followed by stretching
routines.
11) The class then continues with basics
12) The last 30 - 45 minutes of each class will vary each week. The
subjects are :
JU-JITSU, ARNIS, KENDO, YOGA, KICK
BOXING, WRESTLING, WEAPONS USE, KNIFE
FIGHTING, COMBAT.
*During the class the teacher will
give instructions and if you understand reply "USS" . If you don't
understand raise your hand.
*There is no talking during class unless you are giving or receiving
instructions.
*Everyone is to bow upon entering or leaving the dojo.
*From time to
time minor punishments (pushups, standing in the corner or suspension from
training) may be handed out for breaking discipline. These should be taken
without complaining or whingeing.This should not be necessary for the serious
student as all training revolves around self discipline.
* You must
abide by the Blue Mountains Martial Arts Centre’s Code of Conduct
*You must
report any injury or any other incident and see it is recorded on the class
sheet
The club has
a number of other facilities available for the use of students. This includes
weightlifting and protective equipment Indoor climbing wall . Please check with
the instructor before using them.
